Contraindications - Clinical Skin Care Treatments

HydraFacial Contraindications: 

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Accutane (if used within the past 12 mos.)
  • Retin-A/Retinol/AHA's/Peels (stop use 5+ days prior)
  • Botox/Fillers used within past 14 days
  • Severe form of acne
  • Inflammation of the skin on the face
  • Eczema/Psoriasis 
  • Facial waxing (not within past 14 days)
  • IPL/Laser Therapy (not within past 14 days)
  • Sunburn
  • Shellfish/Aspirin/Sulfur
  • Abnormal, unidentified facial growth or mark
  • Cold sores or fever blisters
  • Open lesions 
  • Autoimmune or communicable disease (Lupus/Scleroderma)
  • Allergies to product ingredients

Conditions affecting your Immune System

  • Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) an autoimmune disease often referred to simply as “Lupus”.
  • Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis especially if treated with “Gold Injections” or Methotrexate
  • Any other known auto-immune disorder
  • Any other disease affecting your immune function e.g. following removal of your Spleen
  • Liver disease such as Hepatitis A, B, C
  • HIV

Bleeding Abnormalities

  • Haemophilia, Von Willibrands Disease, Thrombocytopenia

Blood Thinning Medication

  • Anticoagulants such as Warfarin, Heparin, Clexane Or Dabigatron
  • High doses of Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Diclofenac (NB Prophylactic slow release Aspirin at 75 mg day or less is acceptable)

Skin Conditions

  • Prone to Keloid or very thick scarring
  • Vitiligo or any other skin pigmentation problem
  • Psoriasis or eczema (on treatment area)
  • History of skin disorders, abnormal wound healing as well as active skin conditions, psoriasis, eczema, rash, sores, open wounds

Cancer treatment

  • Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) for Cancer
  • Chemotherapy/Radiotherapy for Cancer, Leukaemia, Myeloma or Lymphoma

Other Conditions

  • Currently Pregnant
  • Breast Feeding
  • Acute or Chronic Kidney Disease
  • Type 1 Diabetes & type 2 when on medication
  • Implants / Metal Plates/ or Pacemakers

Genius RF Microneedling Contraindications: 

  • Poorly controlled medical conditions that could compromise wound healing or increase risk of infection such as or impaired immune system due to immunosuppressive diseases (HIV/AIDS), or the use of immunosuppressive medications, radiation therapy or chemotherapy
  • Liver disease such as Hepatitis A, B, C
  • Skin allergy to local anesthetics, gold, antibiotic medication, and/or any other types of medication. 
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Current skin cancer or any other type of cancer or malignant disease including pre-malignant moles.
  • Chemotherapy/Radiotherapy for Cancer, Leukaemia, Myeloma or Lymphoma
  • Patients who have vascular disease
  • Haemophilia, Von Willibrands Disease, Thrombocytopenia, history of bleeding disorders
  • Anticoagulants such as Warfarin, Heparin, Clexane Or Dabigatron
  • High doses of Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Diclofenac (NB Prophylactic slow release Aspirin at 75 mg day or less is acceptable)
  • Daily use of spirin, iron supplements, herbal supplements such as ginkgo, ginseng, garlic or ointment
  • Type 1 Diabetes & type 2 when on medication
  • Implants / Metal Plates/ or Pacemakers
  • Psoriasis or eczema (on treatment area)
  • Prone to keloid scarring
  • History of skin disorders, abnormal wound healing as well as active skin conditions, psoriasis, eczema, rash, sores, open wounds.
  • Active inflammatory acne - acne must be healed
  • Botulism toxins applies to the treatment area. Physicians recommend waiting a minimum of 2 weeks after injection before performing any heat-based treatments. 
  • Individuals whose judgement is impaired due to psychological condition, medication and substance or alcohol abuse.
  • Individuals who are unable or unwilling to follow pre- and post-treatment instructions.
  • Metal allergy: individuals with suspected metal allergy should receive a test spot treatment and return in one week to evaluate candidate’s suitability for treatment
  • Retinoids: topical retinoid should be discontinued for one week prior to and one week after treatment
  • Herpes Simplex: individuals with active herpes breakout should not be treated and return for treatment after resolution.
