Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) Cypress was highly valued as a medicine and as an incense, in ancient times, and it is still widely regarded as one of our most useful essential oils. The essential oil is distilled from the needles and and twigs of the Cypress tree. Cypress is popularly used as an antiseptic, a toner, and for antibacterial and antimicrobial purposes. These properties, plus the fact that it increases blood flow, make it very useful for skin care.
