Ginger (Zingiber officinale) Ginger essential oil has nearly all of the identical healing properties of the fresh root itself. It is widely used as an antinauseant, for digestive problems and for headaches. In addition, ginger is an antibacterial, antiviral and an anti-inflammatory. It has a high level of antioxidants, making it a powerful agent against free radical damage, as such, it is also scar-reducing. Ginger is used extensively in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, and is believed to calm and relieve anxiety, as well as boost mood. It is also thought to be a natural aphrodisiac.
