Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) Tea tree has a long history of use by the aboriginal people of Australia. There has been extensive research carried out on this plant, and it has been found to possess many healing actions. It is an antibacterial, an anti-inflammatory, an antiseptic, an antiviral, a fungicidal and a vulnerary (a wound healer) as such, it is commonly used in preparations for acne and other skin problems.
