Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) The rootlets of vetiver have been used for centuries for their fine fragrance, and to weave aromatic grass mats. In India, and Sri Lanka, it is called the ‘oil of tranquility,’ probably due to the fact that one of its actions is as a sedative. In addition, vetiver is an antiseptic, and is also known for its healing properties, so it is commonly used in skincare products. it is known as an anti-aging tonic (it’s loaded with antioxidants) and is a natural moisturizer, because it has rich hydrating qualities. It is commonly used for acne treatment, scar removal, and to lighten pigmentation.
