Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) Lemongrass is extensively used in the traditional Hindu system of medicine, Ayurveda, for its effects on the nervous system, particularly as a sedative. It is also considered an antidepressant. It is commonly used for the skin, for it is an effective cleanser and toner, as well as an antiseptic, and an antimicrobial. It is effective at treating acne and fungal infections. Lemongrass is also used as a tonic.
